Oh, Friends:
The sun climbs high early these days
and so do the poppies,
lush petals bursting at dawn.
How can we not?
Burst open with the beauty?
And we’re bursting with grief as well,
in and alongside so much rupture and collapse.
You, too?
We love these words of Lisa Olivera:
“Everywhere I turn we see so many people doing so many quiet and loud and small and wide things to make this world more beautiful, more bearable, more humane, more kind, more free.”
Ohhhhh we are so grateful for these people.
And if you’re reading this, we know you are one of them.
Which is also why we’ve started singing sea shanties as ‘see’ shanties, hahaaa!
If these songs brought us across oceans,
for better and for tender,
might they bring us to the next shore together,
more loving, compassionate and adaptive?
Playing with lyrics to reflect, grieve, grow and celebrate, 'See' Shanties imagine our world with less rum and more resilience!
And Friends, join us in body and / or spirit for a
free sunset cruise on Cayuga Lake:
Seeds & ‘See’ Shanties:
How we Sing & Sow in the Dark Times
Wednesday, July 9th from 7 to 9:30 pm
Let's sing, savor the sunset & receive the gift of summer succession sowing seeds as we cultivate community and resist despair! We'll sing traditional sea shanties as well as new lyrics to old tunes sailing each other toward more silly, loving & liberatory lands...
Note: you'll see a suggested donation automatically appear and if you're able to joyfully share such resources, thanks for making Discover Cayuga Lake’s non-profit education mission possible. Either way, we love you more & see you soon💛
What else can we sow now?
So(w) much!
And here are a few tips for
Gardening in the Heat
Let us gift you seeds & garlic, Friends!
We’ll be sharing summer and autumn sown seeds
at our many gatherings throughout the summer:
And we’ll be sharing garlic at one celebratory gathering, exact date TBD by the garlic themselves. Depending when our Italy Hill Giant Ivory garlic fully matures, we’ll be lifting and gifting garlic together either
Saturday, July 19th (stay for Shakespeare’s The Tempest on the farm in the evening!) or Sunday, July 27th from 10 to 4.
Stay tuned & see you soon!
And thank you to the many marvelous hearts & hands who have already joined us this season!
Work Party: Becoming Good Soil Together
Sundays in July: 13th, 20th & 27th as well as
all Mondays in July | 10 to 5 pm | at Fruition Seeds
Bring your family and friends as we dig into meaningful work on the farm together! We'll share a diversity of activities honoring the many ways we all can learn, laugh and be of service together. Arrive / depart anytime and come ready to be comfortable in changing weather. Bring a dairy-free potluck lunch offering as well as a bag to bring home abundance from the farm 💛
If you're reasonably regional and would love to receive lil text invitations to (un)official work parties and abundance sharing here on the farm, send a sweet ask of an email to petra (at) fruitionseeds.com with your phone number. See you soon!
As fireflies light the fields as darkness descends,
let us remember that we sow new worlds as
we cultivate gift economy together!
Have you seen our relational, material & financial needs?
And Friends, we vision a world where we all are ‘sustained’ rather than ‘paid,’ as our beloved Friend Adam Wilson so bravely articulates…
…and if you’d love to sustain our lives more directly, we’re so honored:
Sending love from our lush gardens and hearts to yours!

and the Many Possibilities of Fruition

If you’ve been forwarded this email and would love to subscribe, please do and hope to see you here on the farm one day, too!

OK, that made me cry happy tears. Thank you Petra!
I love all of this. So much truth and beauty in the soil and in the flowers and in the sound of the wind. I love your haiku!
