The Seeds & Friendships that Sustain Us
join us making homegrown + ground tortillas + polenta this Sunday!
We smelled the tortillas well before we arrived at the door, the voices of folks also hungry for a world more trust and taco-filled floating through the trees to greet us.
Is that how friends have met friends for all of time?
As we walked into their home, like hobbits tucking into cozy kitchens surrounded by earth, we saw people preparing dough while others pressed and exquisitely toasted small mountains of fresh tortillas. Everyone had brought their favorite taco fixings and tables were laden with luscious gifts of the earth, gifts for friends.
For hours people lingered nibbling, washing dishes and snuggling the babies, and when they finally went home, they brought jars of corn ground for polenta and masa as well as a stack of fresh tortillas to share with the world beyond.
Can you remember? When communities fed each other? Sharing our skills, heartbreak and hope as gifts?
For years Evan and Erika have tended and extended the gift of Corn Flow every other week in their community deep in the Green Mountains…
…and Friends, now they’re bringing it to ours! Join us this Sunday in body and / or spirit for:
Plants as well as friendships nourish us in too many ways to fathom and Friends, sharing food and community together is the heart of why we’ve devoted our days to co-adapting alongside these seeds, remembering gift culture together.
We’d love to share a lil taste of what inspired as well as what sustains Corn Flow as well as a peek into a book called Embodied Gift Economics that we’re writing together (stay tuned!) so yes, in those precious moments when you have a moment, enjoy on the blog:
As always, come hungry!
For tacos, yes.
And also
practicing the world
we know is possible
right inside the only one we know.
And Friends! We're ready to string lights in our outdoor pavilion (did I mention, don’t be shy?!!) and if you'd love to gift some to the farm, you'll make our day and thank you oceans:
What if the
quality of our relationships
was the quality of our lives?
What if our friendships
were currency more dear than dollars?
What do our gardens teach us about
presence and growth
both in seasons of sun and storm?
This is a love song
to the friendships and gardens
that nourish, hold and heal us
and if you’re reading this, that includes you.
How will you say, live and sow ‘thank you’ today?
And Friends, join us for herbal medicine making, music, a seed saving retreat and soon Shake on the Lake performs
The Tempest
free on the farm next Saturday, July 19th
How timely a play (we agree!) and yes: bring a chair and we’ll share a potluck at 4 pm, music at 6, performance at 6:30 with a conversation with cast afterward:
What else can we sow now?
So(w) much!
Let us gift you seeds & garlic, Friends!
We’ll be sharing summer and autumn sown seeds
at our many gatherings throughout the summer:
And we’ll be sharing garlic at one celebratory gathering, exact date TBD, determined by the garlic themselves. Depending when our Italy Hill Giant Ivory garlic fully matures, we’ll be lifting and gifting garlic together likely
Saturday, July 19th (stay for The Tempest on the farm in the evening!) or Sunday, July 27th
We’ll gather at 10 am to lift and cure the garlic together; at 3 pm we’ll share a gift garlic ceremony and ohhhhh:
Stay tuned & see you soon!
And thank you to the many marvelous hearts & hands who have already joined us this season!
Work Party: Becoming Good Soil Together
Sundays in July: 13th, 20th & 27th as well as all Mondays in July from 10 to 5 pm
Bring your family and friends as we dig into meaningful work on the farm together! We'll share a diversity of activities honoring the many ways we all can learn, laugh and be of service together. Rain or shine, arrive / depart anytime and come ready to be comfortable in changing weather. Bring a dairy-free potluck lunch offering as well as a bag to bring home abundance from the farm 💛
If you're reasonably regional and would love to receive lil text invitations to (un)official work parties and abundance sharing here on the farm, send a sweet ask of an email to petra (at) fruitionseeds.com with your phone number. See you soon!
As cicadas fill the sky with sound like summer clouds,
let us remember that we sow new worlds as
we cultivate gift culture together!
Have you seen our relational, material & financial needs?
And Friends, we vision a world where we all are ‘sustained’ rather than ‘paid,’ as our beloved Friend Adam Wilson so bravely articulates…
…and if you’d love to sustain our lives more directly, we’re so honored:
Thank you for growing friendship as well as gardens with your hunger as well as joy!

As we revel daily in the delicious brilliance of leaves, we are so grateful for this poem:
Reforest
For all
of those
who lived
So we
could be here now
Let us unite
In the ancestors
light
And spread
our leaves
wide open.
